Zen Yoga and its benefits

About the practice

Zen Yoga is an ancient healing practice from Japan which has been developed over the years into a self-developing spiritual practice. The emphasises of the practice is to stay in the present and be completely mindful of it.

The holistic practice of Zen Yoga trains you to completely immerse yourself in an activity emphasising on physical alignment, the flow of energy in the body, and awareness. The physical exercises of Zen Yoga helps you open up, unblock the body, and prepare it for sitting meditation. It is a gentle process that is concerned with awareness of the body and its sensation. Zen yoga is based on the meridian system. The 12 major meridians are energy pathways in which ki (energy) moves through out the body.  We believe that the body, mind or emotions, can be corrected by addressing the ki in the body and ensuring that it flows in harmony so that the body, mind and emotions are well balanced.

The practice was named by Zen master Masahiro Oki and focuses on physical alignment, the flow of energy in the body, and awareness. These simple breathing, movement and stretching exercises are available to anyone regardless of age, fitness, or health. The physical exercises of Zen Yoga calms and rejuvenates the mind. helps to open the body by unblock the energy channels, and prepares the body for sitting meditation. It is a gentle process that is concerned with awareness of the body and its sensations.

During the yearly seasons we work at unblocking the energy meridians that lead to the major organs such as the Liver & Gallbladder (Spring), Heart & Small Intestine (Summer), Stomach & Spleen (Late summer), Large Intestine & Lungs (Autumn), and the Kidney & Bladder (Winter).

Zen Yoga helps to calm and rejuvenate the mind, as well as increasing flexibility and promoting health & vitality.
